Both graduates of Seoul National University, Kim Jungchul gained practical experience at the Bank of Korea, and Kim Jungsik at Chungju Fertilizer. Rather than relying on individual creativity alone, they pursued high-quality architecture through organizational technical expertise. In 1973, Junglim Architecture expanded its scale and capabilities by designing the winning scheme for the Korea Exchange Bank and a series of chemical plant housing complexes in the 1970s.

Junglim Architecture was not only the first domestic architectural firm to adopt computer-aided design but also established in-house technical departments essential for architectural production, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and computer rooms, thereby laying the framework for organized design. It also pioneered management techniques to rationally and systematically oversee the design process. Junglim Architecture demonstrated its capability for large-scale projects by concurrently designing major national projects of various types, such as the winning entry in the 1995 international competition for the National Museum of Korea; Incheon International Airport; and the Trade Center Building. In the mid-2000s, the firm presented a sustainable organizational model for architectural firms by separating ownership and management alongside its generational transition.

Having led the Korean history of modern architecture for half a century, Junglim Architecture has built on the strength of its design knowhow accumulated over 50 years and reinforced it with newly established advanced design divisions and the spin-off of Junglim CM, thereby providing an even more advanced one-stop total service.

JUNGLIM CM

Website
http://www.junglim.co.kr

Junglim CM was spun off and established as a separate company from Junglim Architecture in 2023, in response to the growing importance and market size of the construction management (CM) industry.
